Poison Control

"I'm calling about my daughter Lara"

"Okay, and what did Lara get into today?"

Since the girls have been congested again lately, I've been giving Lara cold medicine, which we call "a candy drink" because she refuses to take anything that starts with the letters M.E.D. I took the medicine bottle, screwed the cap on til I heard the popping sounds indicating that no child will be able to unscrew it and put it up on the highest shelf in my house, hidden behind boxes of whole wheat crackers, jars of wheat germ, and organic rice cakes. So sometime in the middle of the night, a demon fairy swooped in, put it down within child's reach, and even had the audacity to unscrew the bottle some of the way!!

Hence, I walk into the bathroom this morning, to find my 3yr old doing shots of Benadryl. Lara takes one look at my terrified face, and begins to bawl. I call Dustin, who assures me nothing is going to happen. But being quite sure that the medicine in my daughter's body was going to make her explode, I called Poison Control, who also assured me that drinking 1/4 a bottle of Benadryl would simply just make her tired. (Note: Doctor's recommended dose for Lara is 1/2 tsp.)

After Dustin told me to stop being a drama queen in the most romantic way possible, and after watching Lara continue to run around the house all morning talking non-stop, I have learned 2 things. 1)that Benadryl does, in fact, NOT work. 2) that houses must be demon fairy-proofed.

3.and that maybe I'll be more careful to put the medicine away next time.

OH man!! That is too funny! Well, knowing that she is ok, it is funny. Those stinkin' demon fairies! :)

I would totally freak out too! We once called poison control because Macy got into hand sanitizer. They said it was a common call, but I'd heard about kids getting alcohol poisoning. I was totally freaked out!

Summer Start

Dustin and I planted tomato plants last night.  The evening was stunningly beautiful. Granted I had to put on a sweatshirt, but it was on...
