Our main goal is to help Lara with transitions. She can hold any position really well, but cannot always move from one to the other (i.e. laying down to sitting). You also have to intensely motivate her, like with Mom's cell phone or the laptop. She doesn't always care much about her little toys.
While it can be discouraging sometimes that Lara's motor patterns are somewhat unusual, we are still seeing great progress every week, and the PT assured us that Lara is showing excellent potential in her motor development. I am very glad to be doing the therapy because I know Lara needs it. With time and exercise, we are hoping to see Lara outgrow this muscle stiffness. In the meantime, we probably won't see her walking for a little bit. But I think that is okay with me. This morning I was getting our breakfast ready, while Lara went all over the house. It took me a good 1/2 hour to prepare breakfast because I kept stopping to take something away from Lara, shut a door to block her out, soothe a baby who bumped her head on the hard kitchen floor, say "no-no" 53 times, put her BACK on her blanket with toys, take away a dead spider she found (I know, totally gross, but I got it before she actually touched it), put her BACK on toy blanket again. I finally stuck her in her high chair out of frustration. Dustin said, "Just wait until she is walking." I think I can wait.
He turned 1 yesterday.
Don't Daddy and Miss Lara look so nice? And, in the bottom one, Lara is trying to look like Daddy with a goatee (really, she just likes to eat the bubbles).
