Car seats

It's confusing business, really. Trying to find the perfect one, the safest one, the one with the neatest features, the safest less-expensive one. And then, of course, for some of us mommies, you have to find all of this, PLUS, the prettiest one!

(Lara simply doesn't fit well in her infant car seat anymore, so we've had to buy her a convertible car seat.)

I have looked for safety ratings throughout the internet, and seem to generally find different ratings at each site. Or one site might say, "This is a really safe car seat, but is rated poorly for its ease in installation." But another site explains the importance of the ease of installation, because the safest car seat is really the one that fits best in your car AND is properly installed.

Then there is the question of rear-facing or forward-facing. Because Lara is tall, her feet tend to hit the back seat when she's sitting in the car seat. So we've considered turning the seat around...and then I saw these movies.

That's just a little scary, if the crash is intense enough, those flying arms and legs could be dislocated from the sheer force, and serious spinal injury could occur. So then here's rear-facing.

Big difference.

So we will obviously try to keep Lara rear-facing as long as we can.
In the meantime, we bought Lara a new car seat.

Here is an article of a terrible crash that happened near Atlanta last month (and by that I mean MY Atlanta).

I'm thinking of finding someone who is licensed in car seat installation to take a look at it and tell me what's best. It's different for different cars too.

Summer Start

Dustin and I planted tomato plants last night.  The evening was stunningly beautiful. Granted I had to put on a sweatshirt, but it was on...
