Children's Books

Guess what...I have accrued a $70.00 fine for Lara's unreturned library book. It got mixed in with Lara's own books, so it's a couple of weeks late. Yes, that's right. $70.00 for a silly pet the pets book that cost $7 at the store. I almost went into shock when I received the "statement" from the library. I looked at Dustin and said, "WWWWWWWWWWWHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTT? WWWWWHHHHYYYY are they charging me $70.00?!?!?!?!?!" He calmly replies, "Oh, they are charging $50.00 for a replacement fee because they think you lost it." Here is MY statement to the librarians at Lincoln Christian College & Seminary: People, I don't care if I purposely took that pet book to the moon and buried it in the craters, I am NOT paying $70.00 for a 5-page "stroke the kitty's hair" baby book.

I want to know why colleges charge so much for books? This year Karee took a history class that DT already took. He had bought the set of 3 books for the class. When Karee went to check on the books we found out that they had changed one of the books. No problem we thought, we'll just go and buy that one book. Nope....you had to buy all 3 books as a set. I couldn't make them understand that I was not going to pay $225 for 3 paperbacks when all I needed was one book. Of course, colleges keep the books a BIG secret so you can't find out what they are until just a minute before school starts so you can't go scrounging on ebay for an old copy somewhere! :-(

Summer Start

Dustin and I planted tomato plants last night.  The evening was stunningly beautiful. Granted I had to put on a sweatshirt, but it was on...
