A Story

Not too long ago, a little girl lived in a beautiful city. The city was magnificient in every way, with tall green trees and little purple flowers and stars both day and night. This little girl played in this beautiful city, with the kind residents and the little kitties. She ran and climbed all day long.

But one day, the king of the city came to the little girl and said, "Little girl, it is time for you to go to a new place. It is beautiful there too, but it will be hard. You will grow up there and when you are ready, you can come back here and live with me."

The little girl was sad to leave the beautiful city, but she listened to the king, and did all that he said. So the king gave her instructions. He said, "Little girl, listen to me carefully. To get to this new place, you must fly out through the stars. There are no streets and no people to help you, so you must be brave. You will hear voices in the stars, and these are the voices of the people who will help you grow up in this new place. Follow these voices, and you will not get lost. When you get close, you will have to cross a river, but you must stay in the river for many months. The voices will be very close now and they will guide you the rest of the way into the new place."

So the little girl was happy to fly through the stars and go through the river. And she wondered what these special voices would say to her.

But she became a little scared when the king said to her, "But listen, little girl. The journey is not always safe. This new place has been hurt by my enemies and sometimes this means my little children may get hurt along the way. I wish this didn't happen, but it is what this new place is like." So the little girl was scared, until the king reached out to her and said, "The voices will help you through the journey and will take care of you all along the way. I will always give my joy and hope to you. If the new place hurts you, remember that you will one day be back here with me again, just as beautiful and happy as you are now."

So the little girl left the city and flew through the stars. The stars were beautiful, so she reached out and touched one. It was so delicate that it shattered under her hand and she was sorry until she saw all the beauty of the star fall down on her, making her a star princess. And she was very beautiful.

Then she found the river because the voices had helped her all along the way. The voices were close now, like music, and they told her to get in the river. She heard the voices say, "It is not always safe now because you are in this new place, but we will help you."

The river was warm and sweet and she listened to the voices. They talked to her and sang songs to her. The river began to take her to her new home, and she was happy, but the voices said, "No, it is too early, we must make the river stop." So she was scared and the voices sounded scared too. But she waited. And soon the voices said, "Good job, little girl, you can come home now." And the river took her to her new home at the most perfect time.

But the journey had still hurt the star princess a little bit. She could not walk and run and climb as well as she wanted to. But the voices were not sad to her, and they gave her hope, and they made her remember the king in the beautiful city and this made her happy. So she grew up in this new place, and one day she heard the king say to her, "Little star princess, you are not little anymore. You are grown up and it's time for you to leave this new place. If you want, you can come back and live with me."

The star princess closed her eyes and was carried back through the stars and they shone ever so brightly when the star princess went by. And soon she was back at the beautiful city, and she heard those special voices welcome her, and the king ran to her because he was so happy to see her. He put his arms around her and said, "I'm sorry your journey there was hard. But you are home now, so fly through my city as you should."

And fly the little star princess did.

Summer Start

Dustin and I planted tomato plants last night.  The evening was stunningly beautiful. Granted I had to put on a sweatshirt, but it was on...
