Why I do a Blog

I love blogging because I can just really rant about things that I probably wouldn't do in more public settings. I can talk about things and share my opinions that I probably wouldn't normally do for fear of hurting people's feelings. When I put them in a blog, I figure people aren't forced to read it, so they can only blame themselves! Every emotionally healthy individual who reads my blog understands this, so as of yet, I have not received any complaints.

As such, I need to rant right now. Read at your own fault.

Dear Atlanta IL Fire Department,
While I am gratefully appreciative of the hard work you do once a year in putting out small kitchen fires, I am nonetheless filing a HUGE complaint:
I am very upset that at 8:50pm last night, you all blared your sirens and rode around on your fire trucks over and over and over, all around town, for no other purpose than to be video recorded, and to serve no other task than to wake up all the little children in Atlanta who are most likely in bed at 8:50pm. Over and over, you blared and honked and gave me an ulcer due to the many times I jumped out of my skin. In the future, if you really falsly believe that there's anything remotely worthwhile about video taping an incredibly small fire station, kindly think of the town you are serving, and the people who are trying to sleep soundly in their beds. At the very least, please limit your rides to one time around the town, and not a billion.

QUITE sincerely,
A mother of an 18-month-old baby who sleeps at 8pm

Summer Start

Dustin and I planted tomato plants last night.  The evening was stunningly beautiful. Granted I had to put on a sweatshirt, but it was on...
