...have been busy-busy!
Friday, Lara went in for physical therapy. Normally, Lara does just fine and is fairly cooperative; it's really not much of a battle. Yesterday was very different, so we had a really hard time getting Lara to do anything. She cried and fussed and squirmed away as soon as Gretchen reached out to her. And we were not even doing exercises; Gretchen wanted to do an evaluation before we got the braces, so we were just having Lara stand up and play with toys to see what she was capable of on her own. Gretchen said, "I don't know who Mom brought in today, but it's not the Lara I know!" Then Gretchen got out her measuring tools to measure Lara's legs and range of motion. I wonder if Lara thought she was getting a shot? She was crying like she was in pain, but I assure you, nothing of what Gretchen was doing was hurtful in any way (G would just put a ruler on top of Lara's legs, and Lara would start shrieking). I was reading books and singing songs to distract her. But Lara simply did NOT want her legs messed with.
After 1 1/2 hours of this and updated paper work to fill out, it was time to be casted for braces. It only took 15 minutes, and it was just some gauze and tape and stuff, no big deal. But Lara cried and cried.
By the end of it, we were all exhausted. We got lunch in Bloomington, and came home and crashed. I slept about as long as Lara did that afternoon.
Lara's braces should be in in a couple of weeks. I choose white with rainbow straps because I figure those colors will go well with any outfit. Heehee. :-)
I looked into Lara's mouth during therapy and saw a tinsy bit of tooth that just broke through, so I am going to blame her behavior on that.
Today, we spent the day at my parents' house. They had planned a big family cook-out but had to cancel because of the weather. Well, our things were packed and food made, so we called and said we were coming over anyway! We had a nice time: ate good food, visited the winery, jumped on the trampoline, looked at the chickens. Stayed away from the bees though. I still run from and swat at them, much to my dad's chagrin. I can't get used to them.
Ugh, well, our memory card to our digital camera broke, so I'm sorry for my pictureless posts as of late!
