Earth Day

6 You alone are the Lord. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you. -Nehemiah 9:6There is a nice, clean Earth, and there is a big, fat, dirty, ugly Earth. We're talking about keeping the Earth clean today. Not that I am one to preach, because I've only recently begun taking up the art of recycling. And because I love to throw things away. But I'm a big proponent of instilling life lessons in children when they are quite young; otherwise, you miss the boat. So Lara and I went on a walk this morning, and Lara picked up trash-just around the block, and it might seem weird, but I think that's what helped her get the point. Last night I asked her, "What should we do for Earth Day?" And she responded, "Um, I don't know...make trash!" Later I asked her, "It's good to recycle...do you know what that means?" And she responded, "I think we need to go ride our bicycles!" Well, I think she better understands everything after our work this morning.

We're back to our square ft. gardening. We're just growing the things we enjoy-tomatoes, spinach, asparagus, green onions...come to think of it, these are things I enjoy, not so much the hubby.

Green beans, garlic, strawberries...just some good, wholesome food for us. The boxes on the left are from last year; Dustin decided to expand and add two more boxes this year. They did just okay last year, since we didn't get them as much sun as the needed. After some revamping, they are in a good spot now, and I am expecting better of them.

I've gotten Lara's photo shoot done, and if you'd like to see them, you can search for jennifer.leigh photography on facebook, and view them there. It was difficult to get any good head shots, since, well...she's 3 1/2, and just wanted to play and be silly.
I will probably continue to add some more on later.

Would you believe me if I told you Claire is beginning to say her first word? Yeah, probably not. Although, according to Dustin (and I myself have witnessed this), Claire does make the same sounds every time she sees a cat--sounds that are remarkably like the word "kitty." Lara's first word was "kitty", at around 10-11 months.

Well, regardless, what I CAN tell you is that Claire is working on doing the splits.

Well, Happy Earth Day!

Summer Start

Dustin and I planted tomato plants last night.  The evening was stunningly beautiful. Granted I had to put on a sweatshirt, but it was on...
