Home Sweet Home

Most of you know by now, but the Copass family has officially moved into their home in the country. Our first night was just one week ago. We didn't have a solid expectation of when we were going to move in, but suddenly the house was ready for us. We had actually been moving our belongings in about two weeks ago, so by the time we officially moved in, I had much of the basics already unpacked: dishes, clothes, toys, etc.

We love it. I could go on and on about all the great things about it, but I will spare you. I tell you, it was more than once that there was a lot of doubt if this house could, in fact, BE a house. But Dustin's parents did an amazing job, and here we are-home sweet home!

Our second night in the house, we asked our parents to come over and join us for our first home-cooked meal. Afterward, our parents toasted to us in our new home, and then we prayed over the house, walking from room to room, and asking for God's blessing in this new adventure.

We feel very blessed to have this home. It has been so peaceful and relaxing out here in the country. The house is beautiful and affords us more amenities than we are used to. There is still work left to be done on the house, but, really, it's amazing what has been accomplished here!Yes, believe it or not, these two pictures are of the same room! I think Dustin and his parents have a few magic spells up their sleeves. Since I didn't do anything, it does pretty much seem like magic to me. ;)

Claire is getting to sleep in a regular bed now, and if I thought Lara's transition was easy (at the age of 2), than Claire's transition was a piece of cake! Claire is such a laid-back kid; she doesn't sweat the small stuff. Being in a different bed was no big thing. I was concerned at first about what to do for naps. I didn't think that they would be able to nap in the same room. Some days are hard, but for the most part, they sleep well in the same room. Today, I could hear Claire's little feet pitter-pattering across her room when she should have been napping, while I cooked in the kitchen. But she later fell asleep on her bed, anyway.

I knew in part that they should be able to nap in the same room after our weekend experience. This past weekend, Dustin and I, and the girls, were treated to a stay at Whitetail Crossing Cabins Village near Lake Shelbyville. We were given two free nights' stay at a cute little cabin-offered to us by a church here in Homer. We had a fun weekend with the girls and the church family. The girls had to share a bed, and this surprisingly worked out pretty well (the last night was tricky because Claire was being a bed-hog). One afternoon, we laid the girls in bed and turned a show on for them to watch; we didn't expect them to sleep, but we had just gotten back from swimming and needed a rest. I ended up falling asleep, and woke a little later to quietness. Feeling alarmed, I jumped up and ran into the girls' room, and was surprised to see they had both fallen asleep for a nice, little nap. We had to actually wake them up in order to join our friends for pizza that night. So it was then that I realized this sleeping arrangement could work out if I gave it a try. (Of course, the girls are not sharing a bed in our home, therein making it that much easier.)

Also, Claire is pretty much potty-trained now. Well, she is in panties all day, anyway, with no messes. Some days, I let her run naked, then she goes to the bathroom on her own. I still put her in a diaper if we are going out, because she just doesn't pay attention well enough outside the house.

More later. Off to bed.

Summer Start

Dustin and I planted tomato plants last night.  The evening was stunningly beautiful. Granted I had to put on a sweatshirt, but it was on...
