Our Fun Weekend

Last night, the family went to Champaign to attend an informational meeting for a homeschool co-op group.  I didn't know anyone there, but the main reason I am joining this group is to find other moms like me: young children, new to homeschooling.  And to my delight, I met several wonderful parents whose children are the same ages as mine and are just starting their first year in homeschooling.  It was great to talk to everyone and we found a lot of connections.  I went home with some names in my pocket for follow-up dinners and play dates.  The girls made some new friends and had a good time.  I was blessed with encouragement and ideas and advice.

Also, this weekend, I took Claire to a Princess Luncheon.  She had her picture taken with the Queen, listened to a book, watched the ballerinas dance, and had a delicious meal.  She brought home lots of goodies and a huge tiara cookie.  She had a great time.
Oh, and also, to kick off the weekend, Leah (the girls' future Aunt) came over and we decorated cupcakes.

My friend Erin made these aprons.

We decided to decorate these cupcakes Easter-style in lieu of the very weird and messy idea of dying eggs.  Lara put a cross on her cupcake, saying "It's for when Jesus died on the cross."  This was a relief to hear, because when it comes to kids, pagan ideology is everywhere.  Claire, on the other hand, refuses to believe there is no Easter bunny.

Summer Start

Dustin and I planted tomato plants last night.  The evening was stunningly beautiful. Granted I had to put on a sweatshirt, but it was on...
