Homeschool.

I chose that as my title so that if any of you are sick of me talking about homeschool, you can just skip right on ahead.

What does our homeschool day look like?  Every day is different.  I will tell you how this past week has gone.

So, Monday went like this (see what I wrote in the blue):

Yeah...we didn't do school.

Tuesday, we did school, but I just was not in the mood to do Math, because I couldn't imagine anything more boring than teaching about gallons and liters and quarts.  So I did some other things in the morning, and Dustin did math with her when he came home from work.

Wednesday morning, I didn't feel like doing school again, but when school is just basically learning about life and the way the world works, it's pretty easy to do it when you're not looking.  I did a Bible lesson with Lara, then she decided she wanted to write God a song.  So she sat down with paper and pencil and wrote stuff down, and viola, writing class done.  I did a Math lesson during breakfast, then again during lunch.  The lesson was about fractions, so I was all like, "If I take this piece of food, and cut it 4 times...what would we call the fraction of this one piece out of four pieces?" Viola, math is done.

For grammar, I randomly say stuff to Lara like, "Dog is not!'  She responds, "Fragment!"  "The Dog is not staying at the house!"  "Sentence!"  "Lara, a sentence with a proper noun, verb, and pronoun."  "Claire and I are going swimming."  Viola, grammar done on the way to Wal-Mart.

We pretty much ignore history and science right now.  It was getting too stressful trying to fit everything in with a child who must be attended to during lessons.  Actually, for history, we discuss places on a map, then I read a Magic Treehouse book-like _Day of the Dragon King_.   There's no rhyme to anything, and I haven't done that in awhile.

Oh, yeah, reading.  Lara is working on a goal to read 50 books all by herself.  So every day she picks a book and reads.

On Thursday, my surgery was looming ahead of me, so I had a hard time staying focused on my daily tasks.  Lara got some new cursive handwriting books, and she was super excited to start them, so I allowed her to.  I couldn't keep her out of them-she really wants to learn cursive.  While writing, Claire was writing on the chalkboard, and Lara could not stand the sound of the chalk sometimes screeching on the board.  So she ran out of the room crying, and came back like this:

Cute girlies wanted to be all pink!
We love homeschooling.  But what we love most is being a family that stays together.  We drive each other crazy a lot, but it's still awesome.

Summer Start

Dustin and I planted tomato plants last night.  The evening was stunningly beautiful. Granted I had to put on a sweatshirt, but it was on...
