Much to be done!

I have quite a bit on my plate this month, but it is all stuff that I am enjoying working on. However, I have been getting very frustrated with Lara. As most of you know, Lara is great at independent play, and will sit for long amounts of time, or crawl around, playing by herself. But it seems that whenever I NEED her to do this, so I can work on some things, she gets SO fussy. She just cries and cries, and will be very sensitive, so the littlest thing will upset her. I would say that 90% of the time, I am a very patient mother. But I do not understand why she gets so needy ONLY when I need to work on things! So this is when I just about pull my hair out. Actually, I sit for a few minutes, and tune out the crying. When I am all better, I stop what I am doing and play with the baby. However, if I am working on something, and simply canNOT attend to her, like if I have to jump in the shower so we can head out to therapy or a friend's house, this is when I pop in Baby Einstein! I put her in her exersaucer, turn up the volume, and head into the bathroom. The way the rooms are situated are such that I can see Lara's reflection in the bathroom mirror, so I can keep an eye on her (because she is usually eating puffs or wagon wheels). Baby Einstein gives me about 25 minutes of solid peace. And since I am sure there are some TV-IS-SO-BAD mothers out there, I assure you: this is the only time Lara watches TV! She doesn't care about anything except Baby Einstein. She does like the song parts in the Disney movies, though. Otherwise, she never watches TV. I have to do this maybe once a week. Which means usually Lara doesn't watch more than 30min of TV a week. Anyway, I am not a patient person during these times.

Aidan also enjoys BE, and will run in from the other room when he hears it come on. He will jump up next to the TV and bat at the toys as they cross the screen. Aidan, my 3-yr-old male kitty, and Lara have many of the same interests.

Lara and I searched for the Nov. issue of Parenting today, to see if her picture is in it! I think it should be out by now, so I don't know why we haven't gotten it. It doesn't seem they carry it in a lot of stores (if any) though.

Lara is now completely on whole milk! Such a big girl. She didn't have any problems switching over, but she is generally too active and impatient to sit still and drink from her sippy cup/bottle now. So we just work on getting in all those 24oz of dairy throughout the day, relying on cheese and yogurt as well. I got her some organic whole milk today, after my sister told me "it tastes just like candy," but that didn't peak Lara's interest any more than regular milk.
I was trying to get more pics, but Blogger isn't working well right now, so I'll get them up later.

Summer Start

Dustin and I planted tomato plants last night.  The evening was stunningly beautiful. Granted I had to put on a sweatshirt, but it was on...
