(In the car on the way home from the grocery store, Lara hears me opening a Snickers bar).
Lara: Ease, ease, ease! (Please, please, please)
Mama: Please what? What do you want?
Lara: Ackers! Ackers! (Crackers)
Mama: I don't have any crackers, you'll have to wait until we get home.
Lara: BedadooolaOME seemaACKERS. (Something about home and crackers.)
Or something like:
Mama: Hi, Lara, what are you doing?
Lara: I wah outside!
Mama: You want to go outside?
Lara: Yeah!
Mama: Okay, you have to put your shoes on.
Lara: Soos on!
When Lara is reading her books, she loves to point to pictures and say what they are, but she expects you to repeat her, and she will get frustrated if you do not. One day, Lara kept saying "apu, apu" (apple). I glanced at it quickly and said, "No, it's an orange. Orange." Lara always repeats everything quickly and easily, but this time she kept saying "apu." "No, orange." "Apu!" "ORANGE." "Apu!" We kept going back and forth so I finally took another look at it and realized Lara was right. It was an apple. It was just a golden apple, so I mistook it for an orange. Lara and I had our first argument, and she won! I keep telling people she is smarter than me.

It had kind of been on and off for awhile, but Lara has perfected putting two words together-not the typical "Hi Daddy," but saying things like "Mama car," and "More icken" (chicken). She is even doing short sentences with the "I want ___." I love it because I am no longer constantly desperately searching around for what she wants. And because her language is expanding wonderfully, she follows directions really well.
It's so nice to really be able to communicate with your daughter...but, as such, how many more arguments are in our future?? :-)
