Lara's Braces and Our Fun Weekend

Lara has her braces! They came with some special shoes that I think are pretty cute. We simply increase the frequency that Lara wears these braces until she is eventually wearing them all day-except naps and bedtime. We have already seen an improvement in her standing and balance. PT is now once a week, to keep up with Lara's progress.

Lara is wearing her braces with her shoes here, though you can barely see them. They will take a little getting used to, but so far she is tolerating them pretty well. I just have to make sure I put on some tall, warm-n-fuzzy socks to prevent the brace from feeling too tight on her skin.
Lara's Nana and Gin-Gin (my grandma) came for an overnight visit on Friday and spoiled us with a trip to the mall and eating out. We came home with lots of goodies! And today we all drove up to see Lara's Uncle David (about an hour drive). It is nice to get to spend a lot of time with family. I am looking forward to my family being whole again when Daddy comes home tonight! Yay!

I have to say though, I've been so tired at the end of the day, that it's hard for me to keep my thoughts straight enough to write a post. So I apologize if this is just a jumble of stuff. Despite that Dustin has been gone, this has been one of the funnest weeks for us this summer. I think a lot of has to do with me making better choices. For example, Lara goes to bed at 8pm. So I made a rule that I could do housework until 8:30, but then I had to stop and rest for the night. I had to go to bed at a decent hour (I'm a night owl), and it always worked out that I could rest during Lara's afternoon nap. I had much more energy than usual. Lara and I also take about a mile walk every evening after supper, which helps me sleep better.
But it's been a busy week, full of family, friends, sun, and playing. My inspiration for next week is going to go something like: shaving cream. summer nature collage. color days. I'll tell you how it goes.

I'll need to take a better picture, but I thought this dress was a neat idea so wanted to show you. It's a pillowcase dress! You can adjust the strings on the shoulders, so the dress can be worn for a few years. This was a nice present Lara received in the mail-what a good idea!

Summer Start

Dustin and I planted tomato plants last night.  The evening was stunningly beautiful. Granted I had to put on a sweatshirt, but it was on...
