This day has left me with a very contented sigh. Lara is back from a wonderful time with Grandma and Grandpa. I missed her silly ways. I finally, finally!, after 1.5 years, bought curtains for my living room, and it makes the place look SO much better-even Lara exclaimed over their prettiness when she woke up from her nap. We replaced the blinds as well, which were dirty and broken. Dustin had serious work cut out for him as he put the hardware in place, so he is my hero. Then we had some friends over for dinner. There wasn't time to make anything, so we had a relaxed dinner of pizza and pop. Lara's friends were Joshua and Abigail who she doesn't get to see too often.
But what was really great, was this: at the end of the day, as Dustin and I were relaxing, I noticed something that Lara was doing-a new way she was moving. So I sat her on a chair and told her to stand up and walk to daddy, who was sitting on the couch. And, my friends, my daughter stood up unsupported, and took 1 step to the couch. "More!" she would say. She returned to her chair, stood up, and took 2 steps by herself! Then 3!! WithOUT her braces!
Today, Miss Lara stood up and walked 3 steps, without any help at all. A very happy ending to a very nice day.
