Today, Lara said to me, "Mommy....you are a goooooood mommy!"
2 lap victory dance around the living room! Yes! Gold medal!
I am a sad person. Sad, sad. Today is Thursday. I just realized I have not been outside the house since Sunday. Saaad. It is just so cold, and my skin is cracking, and I hate dressing up 2 girls in coats and hats and Claire is sometimes down for a nap before Dustin gets home with the car anyway and if I go outside and get snow on my arm, I might DIE!!
I went out briefly this afternoon to pick some things up from the store and realized how sad I am when my body was jolted by the intake of fresh air.
This is why I love to watch the Olympics, but I am never inspired by them. When I watched the last summer Olympics, I was inspired to learn how to swim, which had, in fact, been a New Year's commitment until my left ear was banned from all things wet. But I am not inspired to do anything that I watch on the winter Olympics. Dustin asked, "Would you like to go skiing sometime?" and I think I laughed. I used to not at all be like this, but now I am afraid I am turning into a sad, sad person.
But at least I am a good mommy.
The truth is, I've been having a lot of fun at home lately with my girls. Claire is delightful, squishy, cuddly, round, and sometimes I fear for her safety because I just love to squeeze her (it's okay, she likes it too.) Lara is happy, smiley, joyful, and very, very busy. She just does not stop. We play, we color, we dance, we sing, we cook, we snuggle. Therein lies a great advantage of snow + a small house: you are forced to really spend time together! I worry that maybe keeping my children cooped up in the house all the time will form them into some sort of anti-social monsters with 2 tails and 1 eyeball, but then I rationalize that a month or two out of 12 is not bad.
Lara wants to make a pie. She wants to put on her Snow White dress and make a pie. So Daddy got some fresh blueberries, and Momma got the flour, and tonight Lara is going to put on that Snow White dress and make a blueberry pie. Who wants some?

I love this post. I feel this way A LOT! You are NOT a sad, sad person.. We stay home A LOT, and there is nothing wrong with that.
read this on a page for KLove radio..
Busyness rapes relationships. It substitutes shallow frenzy for deep friendship. It promises satisfying dreams but delivers hollow nightmares. It feeds the ego but starves the inner man. It fills a calendar but fractures ...a family." -Growing Strong In The Seasons Of Life ~~
