A Life of Prayer

Tomorrow, we are headed to Kentucky to hear Frank Viola speak about "God's Favorite Place on Earth."  I don't have any details about it, and when Dustin attempted to learn more about the theme, they simply replied, "The theme is 'God's Favorite Place on Earth.'"  Maybe it's a secret?  We are taking both girls with us, as thankfully they have childcare provided for Claire.  There is going to be a lot of sitting for Lara this weekend, but hopefully enough movies and books will keep her happy...I am looking forward to getting away just a little too, which seems odd in light of the fact that I will be on a plane to MY favorite place on Earth in just 2 weeks.

Claire has been fussy the last couple of days.  Lara smashed her finger in the door pretty severely today. I went to work at my parents' today, and the girls had to come with me.

A couple of nights ago, we had a really enjoyable dinner with friends.  We decided to break our Daniel fast for this one meal for a variety of reasons, mostly just not wanting to be "set apart."  Also,  I picked the restaurant, and it seemed weird that I would then not eat there?  But I still brought my own salad dressing, and loaded up on salad, in addition to a little bit of pizza.

I enjoy talking to/telling people about the Daniel Fast, as I hope that maybe some people would be encouraged to do it.  My whole attitude about my life, my friends, my church, and my health has really taken a turn for the better.  This has just been such a huge blessing to me to do this.  I have been re-energized in my faith, Bible reading re-activated, and have experienced a renewed relationship with God.  And, not to mention, it helped me lose the extra weight...I have now reached my weight goal, after 1.5 years of trying to lose weight.  I really just don't want to ever stop doing this, but it really is a pain trying to be creative at dinner time.  We eat on a purely vegan, sugar-free, artificial-free, additive-free, water-to-drink only, diet.  And, I'm sorry, but I just can't do tofu.

Pray for us on our trip tomorrow, and Lara has requested prayers for her finger. ;) BTW, here is a cute thing Lara did yesterday:
I put the girls in bed, looking forward to a little alone time this evening. I turned the baby monitor on downstairs, and felt irritated at hearing Lara talking. I was hoping they would go right to sleep. But upon listening closer, I realized that Lara was praying. A sweet, tired, well-thought out prayer, closing with, "Jesus, I love you." Can we stay like this forever?

Summer Start

Dustin and I planted tomato plants last night.  The evening was stunningly beautiful. Granted I had to put on a sweatshirt, but it was on...
