1. First of all, as many of you know, my dad and brother are beekeepers. Generally, when this comes up in conversation, people ask about bee stings. My dad wrote a post about bee stings, so everyone should read it. Especially because it's amusing to me all the people who tell me they are allergic to bees and tend to freak out when I say my parents and brother have a beekeeping business. Don't get me wrong, I freak out a little when I visit my parents in certain times of the year when the bees are swarming all around. The way my family acts, you'd think they were butterflies. But good for them! We always get delicious honey. So, anyway, please read and enlighten yourself on the good nature of bees.
2. I have decided that I am keeping my birthday posts limited to just family. Otherwise, all my posts will be taken up with birthdays!
3. And, finally, this one is for my sister, who is a name-addict. She has asked me to write a post about Lara's name and all the details. I did this once before in another post, and I am doing it again! She would also like me to include some of my favorite names and some of Dustin's favorite names. So here goes.
Lara's name was discovered by myself upon watching "Lara Croft: Tombraider." I decided that would be the name of my first daughter, and this was agreed to by Dustin, WELL before we even REMOTELY discussed starting our family. I love the name! It is also the name of Superman's mother and a very long time ago, somebody, somewhere, knew that a beautiful, very special baby with red hair would be born one day with the name of Lara, so they wrote her a song. Here is "Lara's Theme."
Most people do mispronounce it, but it doesn't really bother me anymore. I try to be more assertive in telling people how you say her name, but because it is really hard for some people to say (*cough* dad), I just let everyone do the best they can. Some people say it the right way, but they Amercanize it too much, so they make it sound like the southern pronounciation of Laura. Anyway, so I don't know how I thought of Delaney. I just heard it and liked it, so there you go. It goes perfectly with her red hair, wouldn't you agree? I later found out that Delaney is, in fact, a distant family surname, and it would be, since we're very Irish-blooded.
I love Russian names (Lara's name is Russian), so if we have more children, you can count on all of the girls having Russian names: Nadia, Anna, Sophia, and so forth. Dustin loves the name Anastasia. And that is all I am going to say about THAT. Except that my name-addict sister really loves the name too, so maybe that says something. If our next daughter's name is Anastasia you will know it's because I am a very good wife. And, also, probably because I made a deal with Dustin that consisted of me not having to do laundry ever again.
So there, Karee, I hope that was to your liking!!
