Victory in the small things.

We did a lot of walking this morning in Lara's physical therapy. It is going really well. Gretchen gave Lara very minimal support and encouraged her to walk; Lara managed to take one step. When you are in my position, you have to notice the really small things to see how far we've come. Other parents exclaim over how their children learn to do something overnight, but with Lara, it is different. Everything takes a very long time. Lara used to have a very hard time walking holding onto just one of my hands, and she would tire after only a couple of steps. But now she can walk very well this way, and we are even starting to see some improvement in her left leg. It takes perseverance and patience, much more so from Lara than from us. There is a lot of victory in this little babe.
